Khen Lim

Having boarded at the Geelong College for his matriculation and then followed by a Humanities programme majoring in Journalism at Deakin University, Khen’s mastery of the English language had early underpinnings. At boarding school, he moonlighted as a proof-reader for his fellow boarding students’ essays and assignments, a habit he transitioned to his university days. The only regret he has with these stints were that he was never paid! During his years of studying Journalism, Khen would conduct his own tutorial classes, again teaching his fellow Aussie lecture mates – literarily unheard of but stranger things have happened still! Upon finishing his university studies, Khen’s career hit a rich vein of diverse twists and turns. In Australia he has since worked for Olympus and Honda. He was also a freelance photographer working on projects ranging from automobiles to landscapes and even cheese. In his student days, Khen founded the Deakin Press Club and before that, he had also established the Daniel Mannix Photographic Society at Monash University where he did not complete his degree in Economics. While working for Olympus under Rudolf Gunz Photographics in Melbourne, he founded the Olympus Camera Club of Australia (OCCA).
On his return to Malaysia, Khen worked on many varied projects that ranged from photography to computing and also to his mastery of the English language. He briefly provided copywriting services at one time for video narration purposes. He has written numerous technical manuals for photography purposes as well as instructional documentation for network computing. He has even provided training to local law firms in matters to do with how they can improve on their use of English.Khen’s prodigiousness in the use of technically accurate English is well known in local circles although he doesn’t market himself as broadly as he should. Nonetheless, watch him for an hour or so and you will discover how he effortlessly picks up all the grammatical and spelling errors he detects in the things he reads, listens and sees. And he does all these with a sense of professionalism and hawkishness that businesses would do well to seek his services.
Talents and skills appear to know no bounds with Khen. He is currently an independent workshop instructor and presenter for Olympus Malaysia in view of their leading line of digital cameras. He is also a freelance English instructor to privateers and businesspeople who are looking for a practical approach to the use of communication English. He is also a working photographer with more than 30 years of experience, specialising in corporate events, weddings and product displays. Together with his wife, he runs a website for his photography business at http://www.zonetenphotography.net as well as a Christian-based blog at http://sitveritas.wordpress.com.
